Towering Personalities

Saya amat tertarik dengan berita yang dikeluarkan oleh BERNAMA tentang ‘Towering Personalities’. Ianya berkaitan dengan ucapan Menteri Pelajaran Tinggi Malaysia, Datuk Shafie Salleh kepada pelajar Malaysia di Birmingham Sabtu lalu.

Ciri-ciri 'Towering Personalities' ini ada di antaranya telah diketengahkan dalam ucapan dasar yang bertemakan PAKSI KEBANGKITAN PERJUANGAN. Adalah baik kiranya ciri yang murni ini yang mudah difahami ini dan dapat disemai dan diwujudkan di semua peringkat demi kelangsungan jemaah kita.

Walau bagaimanapun saya telah dapat lihat ‘Towering Personalities’ tersebut telah dizahirkan oleh PAS dalam pemilihan dan perlantikan saf kepimpinan Pusat 2005-2007. Allahu Akbar! Allahu Akbar! Allahu Akbar!

We hope to develop individuals who are knowledgeable, skillful and able to contribute significantly to the world we live in.

The individuals would be able to develop not only oneself but the community and the world.

The need to develop three main domains in ourselves namely our Intelligence Quotient (IQ), Emotional Quotient (EQ) and Spiritual quotient (SQ).To become a towering personality we need a combination of IQ, EQ and SQ.

Well-mannered individuals who were knowledgeable, intellectual and their achievement respected by others.

Leadership quality and communication skills as areas that needed to be groomed among young Malaysians.

The individuals must be able to lead, manage as well as inspire a team, and at the same time able and willing to listen and ultimately make intelligent and wise decisions.

The individuals should also be able to communicate effectively and possess a high level of curiosity that would lead to in-depth research and always wanting to know more.

The individuals should have the ability to carry out critical analysis of things -- evaluating the present, reviewing the past and predicting the future.

The individuals should also have the ability to appreciate and understand other religions and the various culture.

Inculcate research culture among Malaysians in line to transform Malaysia into a developed nation.

A group of Malaysians who had dedicated themselves to research in various fields, complemented the efforts of creating the many "towering personalities".

"They can become role models to others and by carrying the Malaysian name, the group can project a positive image of the country, working as a team towards inculcating a research culture," he said.
